Our paddling friend, the Bavarian White Water Warrior "Loisl" (WWW-LOISL) assisted in hiding the geocache.

Begin of the main Soca gorge. In this area you must localise the geocache, get there by kayak or plan a hiking route. You can get there without a kayak but you'll miss the fun and excitement.

The river cut a valley deep into the Julian Alps so the stark contrasts between turqoise colours of the river and steep slopes are even more striking.

Soca Valley, Slovenia
The Soca has four main sections. The upper Soca (class 3+) is an open run with one narrow gorge at about half distance. You can either finish you run at 'Kajak Kamp Toni' at the Koritnica confluence or continue to Cezsoca. The section from Cezsoca (Prijon Shop) to the bridge at Zaga is very tame paddling (class 2, aka Hausfrauenstrecke) and not at all dangerous. For the adventurous 'Wild water Geocacher' start your trip here at the Saga Bridge. It follows some real pleasure paddling (class 3) right up to the start of the actual 'Graveyard Canyon' (Friedhofstrecke). Here you should use your GPS. Find the stash and continue the Friedhofstrecke (class 3+, Valley of the 1001 eddies, and one of the most spectacular white water runs in Europe) until you see the wooden bridge at Trnovo, this is the place to get out. What follows is the world championship course, this is not the place to go for a swim!
The Lower Soca (Abseilstrecke) (class 4-) is a lovely section, well worth the climb down (200m) from the road, with a playhole (see Playak.com) and it finishes in a scenic class 3 gorge near Kobarid.
The Koritnica (class 3+) is a tributary of the Soca. It is a beautiful fun section with a narrow gorge near the top. Steep and fast running river.

The Soca Valley, defined by the aquamarine Soca River, stretches from Triglav National Park to the Italian border town of Nova Gorica. The Soca is one of the most beautiful and cleanest rivers in Europe. During much of WWI, this was the site of the infamous Soca Front, which claimed the lives of an estimated 1 million people and was immortalised by Ernest Hemingway in his novel "A Farewell to Arms" (dt: "In einem Anderen Land"). In 1917, combined Austrian, German, Hungarian and Slovenian forces met in Kobarid, on the front, and defeated the Italian army. It was the greatest breakthrough of WWI. Visitors flock to Mediterranean-style Kobarid (known as Caporetto to Hemingway) to relive these events at the award-winning, anti-war Kobarid Museum.

And here did we bury the geocache, |
The stash, RubberMaid type box, is buried beneath some rocks (see left), the cache contains all sort of bits and pieces and a cache log book, as well as the booklet "Kayaker's Little Book of Wisdom" by Corran Addison. The stash also contains a camera, which is meant to be a travelling stash camera. Take a picture of yourself and then deposit the camera (with the attached form) at the next Geocache you visit. The last person can send the camera then back to me. ;-)
Btw., If you enjoy this type of "action geocache" then you should visit our other stashes
in Austria, Upper Isar, Gleirschbachklamm
the Flims Gorge Cache in Switzerland
and the highest Geocache in Germany,
